On June 17, University of Latvia officially opened the photo exhibition "Postcards from Ukraine" about cultural objects being destroyed and damaged in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression.

The opening of the event was attended by H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Mr. Anatolii Kutsevol, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Dace Melbārde, Rector of the University of Latvia, Professor Gundars Bērziņš, Secretary General of the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO Baiba Molinika, Director of University of Latvia Culture Center Indra Trofimoviča, university employees, foreign diplomats, and representatives.

Mr Anatolii Kutsevol stated in his address that Russia is destroying not only Ukrainian cities and villages, but also the thousands of years old Ukrainian cultural heritage. "The participation of UNESCO in the protection of our cultural heritage and the post-war reconstruction of cultural objects is extremely important to us," noted H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia.

This exhibition is important as it carries the messangers role and draws attention to the devastating effects of the Russian war on objects of cultural heritage in Ukraine. 

The exhibition "Postcards from Ukraine" was created on the basis of campaign materials implemented by the Ukrainian Institute with the support of USAID. The photo exhibition in University of Latvia was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia with the support of the company BELAM-R TsenGA and the help of the University of Latvia Culture Center.
