On Monday, June 10, the cultural cooperation platform "universities4culture.eu" was officially launched with an online event.

This online platform was developed as part of the "Twenty Years of Cultural Enrichment in Reunified Europe" initiative, also known as the CAMINO Project. It's a collaboration between University of Latvia and 6 other European universities: Vilnius University, Lithuania, University of Tartu, Estonia, University of Opole, Poland, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, the Czech Republic, Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia, and Ludovika University of Public Service, Hungary.

The platform's creation was made possible thanks to the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed in Riga on May 29, 2024. The memorandum aims to foster collaboration among universities, their cultural institutions, artistic groups, students, and academics in the field of culture. During the virtual launch event, which drew 149 participants from various European countries, the CAMINO Project partners showcased the platform's features and content. Developed from the University of Latvia's website, the platform is managed by LU's Culture Center.

Currently, the platform connects seven CAMINO Project partner universities. During the presentation, CAMINO Project’s administrative manager, Gundega Vizule, encouraged other universities and cultural institutions to join: "We believe this platform will expand and inspire new collaborations, joint projects, and encourage us to attend each other's events and exchange experiences. The possibilities are vast! It’s up to us now—let’s make the most of this platform and contribute to its growth!"

The platform aims to serve as a database, a hub for networking, and a space for sharing information about artistic collectives, cultural events, and international initiatives across universities.
